Sâmua Lima, 23, Brazilian
I stayed in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.
I studied in Nursing in Federal University of Ceará.
Ever since I’d arrived in Ireland…
My favourite things that I had done were going to the college, joining the gym, chilling out at my friend’s house.
I feel great being a college student because I believe that it is a great opportunity to get a degree and invest in my career.
I know I have chosen the right course because I feel very glad and fulfilled when I am able to help people, especially when they are in vulnerable moments such as falling sick.
My institute is awesome the way it is because they promote an ideal environment to study, also they are very accessible and promote the integration among the students.
Why did I choose Ireland in the first place?
Ireland was my first option because I was very interested to go to Europe, to live in a country which the first language is English. Ireland took the first place because I had heard about the Irish richness in nature, also well, I was extremely curious to get involved in the Irish culture.
Nursing has been a very large part of my heart because I love to assist people. In my course, I learn to provide care professionally to those who needed. In Ireland, I had the opportunity to look at the health promotion in a whole new perspective, which I can always compare it between Ireland and Brazil, and learn something new.
The moment I enjoy most was when IT Tralee held the International Day. I gained insights and enjoyed a myriad of cultures from countries all over the world. In addition, the tour to Ring of Kerry was so marvellous. The most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in my life.
One of the most difficult parts was the language as I did not have a high English level. Moreover, I also found it hard to catch the Irish English accent initially. Besides that, the long distance between Ireland and Brazil had made me feeling homesick many times.
I am active in
I was involved on the box society. I also used to go to the gym and play basketball with my friends. It helped me to make new friends and felt more energetic to accomplish other activities the rest of the day.
To go back to Ireland to improve my career by doing a M.D or PhD in Nursing, also to work at the hospitals there. I strongly believe there would be great benefits for me to reap from the cultural and professional exchange.
What I want to say is
I truly advice others to come to Ireland. They will have a very good opportunity to improve themselves and to experience and indulge in a very rich culture. Ireland has great educational opportunities, also a very good quality of life to be enjoyed.
